PehuTec and Nevia Oy – Pioneers in Smart Infrastructure
Nevia Oy is a company specializing in smart infrastructure, aiming to improve traffic flow and safety through advanced technology. Nevia uses 3D mobile laser scanning and cameras to measure the condition of road infrastructure, but the large amount of data and the complexity of the analysis created challenges in data processing and utilization.
PehuTec’s role: Technology partner from start to finish
PehuTec joined Nevia’s project in the early stages and on the car to solve these challenges. From the beginning, PehuTec was responsible for the overall project – from specifications and technology choices to implementation. In collaboration with Nevia, PehuTec built a highly demanding data pipeline that utilizes AWS technology and can process huge amounts of data as needed.
The project also utilized a Google Maps foundation, on top of which various views of the road condition were built. This allowed road condition data, such as rut depth, pothole occurrence and road gradient, to be visualized on a map. The system evaluates and classifies these parameters according to quality, providing users with a clear view of the actual condition of the road.
Benefits of the end result: Concrete improvements in road maintenance
The visual user interface offers particularly useful benefits: road maintenance monitoring and planning have been improved, and the software calculates the volume of asphalt material, which improves cost estimates and logistics. Milling and filling are also performed with 3D visualization controls, which helps in implementation and planning. Nevia’s solution has brought a more advanced tool than before, making infrastructure management smoother and more environmentally friendly.
